But, I did have an excellent grilled grouper reuben on our first night in Sanibel courtesy of RC Otters on Captiva. It was a healthy portion of grilled grouper with swiss cheese, homemade slaw and thousand island dressing. Quite a bit of fat, but at least the fish was grilled and not fried.
The Mr. had seafood fajitas. Very good as well.
Our second night didn't go quite as well. Pub grub - everything was fried and/or salty. Best I could do was a grilled grouper Caesar salad. It wasn't photo worthy or very tasty. Hoping for better options tonight! It's no wonder obesity, diabetes and heart disease are so prevalent in America.
You're right! Home cook meals are much healthier & yummier but it's alright to have those kind of meals once in a while. Of coz, not everyday! haha.... Hope you're having a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteCheers, kristy
Sorry you're having a difficult time finding healthy meals. I agree, it is sometimes difficult here on the islands. You might check http://www.cuisine-scene.com/pages/restaurantsancap.html for the restaurant menus, before picking a dining spot. I hope this helps. :) (McT's on their list is closed.)
ReplyDeleteOooh, also closed are: Biddle's Bucket and Beachview.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's too bad that more places don't offer healthier foods, even bars and pubs. At least you are doing the best you can with what you are given! The grouper ruben looks really good!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tootie. we did use that site and the printed version that is available around the island to pick future restaurants. We had better luck at Blue Giraffe, Twilight Cafe and the Over Easy Cafe. You are very lucky to live where you do. :)
ReplyDeleteKristy and Jen - cheats are always allowed on vacation! I may have even indulged in some ice cream and pie too. Shhhh...
Looks like good vacation food to me.
ReplyDeleteIt was Lyndsey, I definately enjoyed that sandwich! :)
